We think so. The Jerusalem Post is reporting that Israel’s Ministry of Tourism wants to implement a national hotel rating system.

Tourism Minister Stas Meseznikov, Israel’s Minister of Tourism says the intention is to “bring transparency back to the hotel industry ” by putting all participating hotels on a level playing field of rating. He also suggests the move will promote competition.

Discipleship Travel LLC believes this is a win for the consumer because the new rating system will compare all hotels according to the same criteria, and hotels will not be able to rate themselves. This will not only help the consumer make a more educated choice, but should prevent hotels from falsely elevating their ratings, and thus create honest competition. Honest competition in the marketplace usually means better service and lower prices for the consumer, which means we can provide tours at even better prices.

Now, we wait to see if the legislation is passed and implemented.
