Join Pastor Bruce and Rhoda Christian
as they journey through the Holy Land
May 20 – 29, 2016
Recently Rhoda and I toured Israel with Discipleship Travel and Craig Dunning. Wow, what a great experience! The ten days were safe, fun, informational and inspirational. Safe, in that we never felt threatened or afraid at any time. We visited numerous places we had always heard about and read about in the Bible but now were able to physically see. There were fun activities, too, such as rafting on the Jordan River, sifting for artifacts and walking thru Hezekiah’s Tunnel. We really appreciated how Craig tied in the Bible significance to the sites we visited. The buffet meals were wonderful and the accommodations were excellent. I want to invite you on a trip that will make the Bible come alive. Would you consider joining us as we return to Israel in May 2016.

On the way you will stop at Caesarea, where Paul almost persuaded Agrippa to be a Christian; Mt. Carmel, where Elijah challenged the prophets of Ba’al; and Megiddo, which lends its name to the Valley of Armageddon.
After settling into your room you will enjoy a buffet dinner and have the evening free to relax.
DAY 3 – May 22 REGISTER HERE!
This day begins with a buffet breakfast to get your ready for the day. Afterward, you will visit the Nazareth Village, a first-century replica village similar to what Jesus would have grown up in. You will also visit Gideon’s Spring and Bet Shean before ending the day with Baptisms in the Jordan River.
Overnight: Sea of Galilee
DAY 4 – May 23
Today, you will open the day with a view from the Arbel Cliff, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Then, you will make your way north through the Golan Heights to Caesarea Philippi where Peter made his confession, “Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God.” Nearby, at Dan, you will see the headwaters of the Jordan River as well as Jereboam’s altar and a rare mud brick gate from the time of Abraham. You will complete your visit to the north with a leisurely raft ride down the Jordan River.
Overnight: Sea of Galilee
DAY 5 – May 24 REGISTER HERE!
After an early breakfast, you will sail across the Sea of Galilee while worshiping to some of your favorite music. You likely have not experienced anything like this! After docking at Capernaum, you will learn about Jesus’ preaching and restoration ministry in the area.
After lunch, you will “go up to Jerusalem.” But, before arriving at your hotel you will visit a model of ancient Jerusalem and see the Dead Sea Scrolls.
DAY 6 – May 25
An early breakfast will get you ready for a wonderful day in Jerusalem, the Holy City. You will ascend the Temple Mount, the most sacred area in the world for Jews and the third holiest for Muslims. After descending from the Temple Mount, you will visit the Western Wall, the Rabbinic Tunnel, the Southern Excavations, and the City of David, which includes Hezekiah’s Tunnel (bring your water gear!) and the Pool of Siloam (Jn. 9).
The day’s not over yet. Since, you have focused so much on the Temple today, you will finish the day sifting through materials excavated from the Temple Mount. Who knows, you may find some remnant from King Solomon!

Today’s itinerary includes a visit to Masada, a float in the Dead Sea, as well as a chance to walk around Jericho.
In the afternoon, you will have a somber visit to Yad veShem, the Holocaust Museum. If time permits, you will get to visit a local ministry center to see how ministry is done in Israel.
DAY 8 – May 27
Today’s focus is the death and resurrection of Jesus. You will start the day looking over Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. Like Jesus did, you will walk down the Mount of Olives for a visit in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus was betrayed. Afterward, a visit to the Garden Tomb will give you the opportunity to consider Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.
After lunch, you will visit the Jewish Quarter, Mt. Zion and the Christian Quarter.

The afternoon will bring you to the west of Jerusalem, including stops at Beth Shemesh, Azekah, and the Elah Valley. Bring a bag to gather some smooth stones as souvenirs. On the way back, you will stop in Bethlehem. After lunch, you will have a free afternoon to make some last minute purchases or to prepare your things for a late night return flight.
The day isn’t over yet! On the way to Ben Gurion airport, you will stop for a farewell dinner.
